Lituya Bay

Ursa Major at anchor in Lituya Bay. Part of Glacier Bay National National Park, Lituya is rarely visited because it's unprotected entrance faces the Gulf of Alaska. In the background, the snow-capped Fairweather range, from Cenotaph Island. The right-most peak is 12,700 ft Mt.Crillon. 15,000 ft Mt. Fairweather is not visible. On the left ridge, the trim line from the 1,700 ft high wave that devasated the bay in 1958 dominates the shore.
