Alcids are a family of sea birds the inhabit inshore and offshore ocean habitat. They nest on rat-free islands or cliffs, though the Marbled Murrelet chooses thick-limbed old growth sometimes many miles from the sea. The family includes Puffins, Murres, Guillemots, Auklets and Murrelets.
