Anna’s Hummingbird Vid

In the spring of 2016 I shot footage of a hummingbird nest in Marymoor Park. After researching hummers the following winter, I wrote a script and created my first video production, titled Anna’s Hummingbird. It showed at the East Side Audubon Volunteer dinner. In 2017, the female re-built her nest at the same location; I shot more footage. In 2019, I shot footage of the male Anna’s dive display. In April, 2020, I edited the narrative, adding the dive footage and some 2017 fledging material.

I hope you can set aside the 14 minutes it takes for viewing. The youtube upload is HD quality, but I think the video shows just fine. The audio, though, could be better. Shooting in a city is fraught with background noise. There is no way to mount a mic nearer a bird as it sings or scolds. In Premiere Pro I used a high-pass filter to clean up the worst of it. The voice-over, too, is uneven. Suggestions appreciated.

I hope the story comes through. Video is all about story. Much of the life of hummingbirds is revealed here.
