Washington and Oregon offer paddlers a diverse experience, from adrenaline-pumping Ocean rock garden, surf and current play to lifestyle-tranquil waters on protected bays, estuaries, lakes  and reservoirs. In summer— a good weather forecast— sea kayakers relish pristine coastal paddling in both States. Washington offers more protected ocean travel, testing navigation skills in Puget Sound and the San Juans, where swift tidal flows dictate the time and route of travel and add to the fun.  In Oregon, the mountain lake paddling in the Bend area is a particular favorite.
