Wildflowers as a subject has been a favorite of mine since my beginnings as an outdoor photographer. I find flower portraits, in particular, an unending challenge, each one unique, alluring and potentially beautiful on canvas. A single flower, done well, pops from color contrast (red-green, gold-blue) and simplicity (plain background or bokeh).
We gain hugely today with digital techniques like focus stacking. The Skunk Cabbage and the Camas below are examples.
