My photo business is off this year, but then, I haven’t been paddling. Some good news is I got another book cover, this one for Fifty Places to Paddle Before You Die, another in a series of “50 Places” books by Chris Santella. I also got the contents page image, and an inside shot as well. My images were shot on Sea Kayak Adventures trips to the Sea of Cortez (Baja) from 2008 to 2011.

It would quite a feat for Mr. Santella to visit all the listed locations, so he smartly uses local experts to describe the 50 adventures. For the paddling mecca Sea of Cortez, for example, he has Nancy Mertz of Sea Kayak Adventures (now Row Adventures) supply a firsthand account. Nancy has travelled there for over 20 years, as a paddler, guide and guide company owner. You can’t get more knowledgeable than that, and it’s reflected in the text.
